This page fixes an Oops of sorts... we essentially went right from California to Christmas 2007 without stopping in between! So to make up for that, here's a sample of images from the time in between, starting with... er, Kieran up a tree? Specifically, it's the apple tree in the side yard of our humble Ellison Park abode.

Kieran is the bomb! No, wait, Kieran points to some bombs? Ah, whatever... He, and we, are at the Henry Ford Museum in Detroit, having unexpectedly been given the "gift" of an extra day of vacation due to a cancelled flight on our return from California. We certainly made the most of it and the Henry Ford is on our "revisit" list.

It's a bird, it's a plane... it's Thalia on the Wave Swinger ride at Marineland! September 2007.

Speaking of Marineland, we made one more trip there in 2007 on their final weekend of operation for the season. The weather was not particularly cooperative, as Kieran's outfit illustrates. He's well into the double digits in consecutive turns on this ride, the Flying Dragon, which conveniently is right next to the Wave Swinger that Thalia likes!

During this visit, we also traded off attractions. Thalia had reached out and touched a Beluga Whale on a previous visit, so it was Kieran's turn.

And Thalia was, well, envious of the once in a lifetime shot of Kieran with a dolphin (see "Kieran's Bottlenose" here), had been trying to get her turn with a dolphin ever since. And before the final show of the season, she finally did.

Thalia gets a hug from Peter Yarrow of Peter, Paul and Mary! He was in town to perform for kids at a local book store and autograph copies of his book based on the famous song about a famous imaginary creature. And Thalia's father is among the many who grew up with "Puff, the Magic Dragon," a song I am told I would sing when I was far younger than Thalia is in this photo. Some things change-- "Puff" is on my iTunes instead of a 45 now-- but some things don't, we both know the song. Thank you, Peter... and peace.

Dolphins aren't just sighted at Marineland... this one tops an array of balloons for Kieran's 11th (!) birthday. At right is his cake. We shot video otherwise...

And then it's off to Hawai'i -- well, at least as far as a presentation made by Thalia and the rest of the Second Grade. Item one on Thalia's "if we win the lottery" list is a trip there... and that decision was made before the class spent about a month preparing for this show.

Finally, it's Shadow, our tortoise-shell cat, in a favorite perch atop the computer on which these web pages are composed. Sadly, her companion Lizzy was lost in April 2008 and we have a page here devoted to her. But Shadow needs a photo too!
